Communications Officer to £28,000 –
Communications Officer with excellent media management skills is required by an expanding company based in
--- Duties ---
- To act as an official spokesperson in print and broadcast and web media, giving live and recorded interviews when appropriate.
- To act as a media officer contact for all media.
- To be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance and editing of the news website in conjunction with the Media Manager.
- To write and issue media releases, briefings, photo/AV material.
- To initiate, write and distribute media features as part of a pro-active and planned programme of activity.
-To implement and manage when necessary PR crisis procedures alongside the media manager.
- To develop and maintain good relations with key regional, trade and national media contacts.
- To use internal relations and external networks to identify and capitalise on positive publicity opportunities.
-To act as a contact point for officers wanting to publicise their projects or seeking media guidance and subsequently provide them with professional advice and support.
--- Key Skills ---
Media experience or within a media organisation/agency
Knowledge of the public sector desirable
An understanding of the wider commercial and political backdrop to transport is an advantage
Demonstrable experience of successful working with a range of media with positive outcomes
Experience of managing risk to corporate reputation through key media issues
An understanding of wider communications practice is necessary
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
Good presentation skills
Ability to work accurately under pressure to demanding deadlines
Good organisation skills
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Salary – to £28,000 + benefits
